About Luminous Strands

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, salons were temporarily closed and deemed non-essential. Like many, my at the time 16-year-old son and I faced the challenge of maintaining healthy hair without professional treatment. We both have locs (dreads) and became frustrated with the buildup and residue from using various products that just didn’t work, we created a simple detox solution in our kitchen. We used ingredients that were natural and organic for the scalp and body originally calling it LocsDetox, designed specifically for our locs at the time and tailored for our hair type. What started as a personal remedy quickly became a family favorite. Family members and friends tried it, loved it, and noticed a real difference. We didn’t stop there as we continued experimenting, seeking better ways to cleanse and nourish our hair, especially for African American hair types, which often require specialized care. We came up with a customized shampoo and conditioner under our brand name that reflects our brand's identity for ALL of our hair types and not just for our locs and Luminous Strands emerged. Today, we’re proud to introduce Luminous Strands, a reimagined brand that reflects our evolution, dedication, and commitment to quality. We’ve developed a complete haircare line, including a clarifying shampoo and moisture-replenishing conditioner, to ensure the highest standards. Our signature Rose Water-infused detox is now part of a 3-step process that redefines scalp health and revitalizes our hair from root to tip.
